Mycenae

The Mycenae, praising Homer, was the kingdom of Agamemnon and one of the most important cultural and historical centers of ancient Greece (1600 BC). According to myths, Mycenae took its name from Perseus, who discovered a source of water, after the “nose” of his sword (in Greek “Mikis”) felt to the ground. Mycenae was one of the brightest and glorious points of the ancient Mycenaean civilization. This fact is confirmed by the enormous number of archaeological findings, most important of which is the Palace of Mycenae, the Tomb of Tolos, the City of Lions and the Cyclopean Walls (built, according to mythology, by huge mythical creatures “Cyclops”). This small village of 450 people welcomes thousand visitors, who wish to experience the influence of Mycenaean civilization.
